毎年11月の第4木曜日は
アメリカでは
サンクスギビング・デイ
（感謝祭と訳される）
が行われます。
この日はどこのお店もお休みになるほど、重要な休日なんです。
この日になると、空港、道路は大賑わい！
ニューヨークでは記念バルーンの行進など、
かなり大掛かりなイベントになっています。
そもそも、サンクスギビング・デイとは何なのか？
イギリスからマサチューセッツ州のプリマス植民地（Plymouth Plantation）
に移住したピルグリムファーザーズの最初の収穫を記念する行事
であると一般的に信じられている。
ピルグリムがプリマスに到着した1620年の冬は大変厳しく、大勢の死者を出したが、
近隣に居住していた北米先住民ワンパノーアグ族（Wampanoag）の助力により生き延びることができた。
翌1621年の秋は、とりわけ収穫が多かったため、
ピルグリムファーザーズはワンパノーアグ族を招待し、
神の恵みに感謝して共にご馳走をいただいたことが始まりであるとされる。

私も米国に在住している身なので、
ご多聞に漏れず私も参加したわけですが、
これが今年のは凄かった。
朝食はデニーズで集まって食べて、
その後にホストの姉さんの部屋を掃除して、
最後にホストの次男の家で七面鳥やら何やらを色々食べました。
他にも色々あったけれど、

In America,Every November's 4th Thursday is
Thanksgiving Day.
This is a real holiday that most of stores are closed.
Especially, in the day, many people would rush to
airports and on the roads!
In N.Y., there are a lot of celebration balloons
are marching on N.Y. roads.
By the way, what is Thanksgiving day?
"Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day (Action de grâce in French),
is an annual one-day holiday to give thanks (traditionally to God) at the close of the harvest season.
In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
In Canada, it is celebrated on the second Monday in October.
In the United Kingdom, Thanksgiving is another name for the Harvest festival,
held in churches across the country on a relevant Sunday to mark the end of the local harvest,
though it is not thought of as a major event (compared to Christmas or Easter) as it is in other parts of the world."

I also attend my host family's Thanksgiving party.
Additionally, this year's was kind of biggest party.
We ate breakfast at Denny's.
Then I cleaned up my host mother's sister's room.
At last, I could eat turkeys and something else.
I wanted to write more about it but,
I can't write any more because
it would take a long time more.
Now I'm so full...!
